Why Shout?

why shout

Proverbs 15:1 –  A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger…..

A theology professor was teaching about proverbs 15:1. He asked his students:

“Why do we shout in anger?  Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?”

The students thought for a while. One of them said, because we lose our calm, we shout for that.

“But why shout when the other person is just next to you?” asked the professor. “Isn’t it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you are angry?”

The students gave some other answers but none satisfied the professor. Finally he explained,

“When two people are angry at each other, their hearts psychologically distance themselves. To cover the distance, they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will shout to hear each other through that great distance.

Then the professor asked, “What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly, why?  Because their hearts are psychologically very close. The distance between them is very small.”

The professor continued, “When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they even get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that’s all….”

The Other Side

A Father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. To keep her busy, he tore one page on which was printed the map of the world. He tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again. He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done.

But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map.

When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, ‘Oh Dad, there is a man’s face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right…!

Saying so she ran outside to play leaving the father surprised…..

Whenever faced with issues and problems it life, look at the other side of it – most probably you will see an easy way to tackle those problems! Whatever we experience in this world, there is always another side to it!

When a lock can be opened with different keys, we call it a bad lock!

But, when a key can open different locks, we call it a master key!”

Grandpa’s Letter ….

Happy now

One day, a young man was cleaning out his late grandfather’s belongings when he came across a bright red envelope. Written on the front were the words, “To my grandson.” Recognizing his grandfather’s handwriting, the boy opened the envelope. A letter inside read:

Dear Grandson,

Years ago you came to me for help. You said, “Grandpa, how is it that you’ve accomplished so much in your life? You’re still full of energy, and I’m already tired of struggling. How can I get that same enthusiasm that you’ve got?”

I didn’t know what to say to you then. But knowing my days are numbered, I figure that I owe you an answer. So here is what I believe. I think a lot of it has to do with how a person looks at things. I call it ‘keeping your eyes wide open.’

First, realize that life is filled with surprises, but many are good ones. If you don’t keep watching for them, you’ll miss half the excitement. Expect to be thrilled once in a while, and you will be.

When you meet up with challengeswelcome them. They’ll leave you wiser, stronger, and more capable than you were the day before. When you make a mistake, be grateful for the things it taught you. Resolve to use that lesson to help you reach your goals.

And always follow the rules. Even the little ones. When you follow the rules, life works. If you think you ever really get by with breaking the rules, you’re only fooling yourself.

It’s also important to decide exactly what you want. Then keep your mind focused on it and be prepared to receive it.

But be ready to end up in some new places too. As you grow with the years, you’ll be given bigger shoes to fill. So be ready for endings as well as challenging beginnings.

Sometimes we have to be brave enough to move from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Life isn’t just reaching peaks. Part of it is moving from one peak to the next. If you rest too long in between, you might be tempted to quit. Leave the past in the past. Climb the next mountain and enjoy the view.

Dump things that weigh you down emotionally and spiritually. When an old resentment, belief, or attitude becomes heavy, lighten your load. Shed those hurtful attitudes that slow you down and drain your energy.

Remember that your choices will create your successes and your failures. So consider all the pathways ahead and decide which ones to follow. Then believe in yourself, get up and get going.

Also be sure to take breaks once in a while. They’ll give you a renewed commitment to your dreams and a cheerful, healthy perception of the things that matter the most to you.

Most important of all, never give up on yourself. The person that ends up a winner is the one who resolves to win. Give life everything you’ve got and life will give its best back to you.

Love always,

Don’t Worry, Be Happy!!!

Zen Flow Chart

Once a small boy asked his mother“Mother, what is the secret of life?”
With a smile the mother replied … “My dear, the Secret of Life simply is, Being Happy!”
This was deeply registered in the child’s heart and later that day, which was his first day in class I, his class teacher was asking everyone in the class to relate what they wanted to become in their life when they grew up ……

Some students replied, ‘Engineer’, while some answered ‘Doctor’ ….. and so on. When this little boy’s turn came, he got up promptly and remembering his mother’s words replied, “I’d grow up to be Happy!”
At this juncture, his teacher tried to once again explain the question and said “Dear child, I think you didn’t understand my question……”.

At this, the boy replied, “but teacher, I think you did not understand the meaning of life yet….!”

Attitude and Emotions!!!

When someone is doing or about to do something,

in a way we don’t want it to be done,

and when we are not able to accept it, we become Angry.

But, when we are able to accept it, we remain Tolerant.

When someone has or is able to produce something,

which we don’t have or not able to produce,

and when we are not able to accept it, we become Jealous.

But, if we are able to accept it, we get Inspired.

Just a thought of someone,

who is not physically present then,

and when are not able to accept it, we feel the pain of “Separation”.

But if we are able to accept it, we nourish the “Memories”.

So what is the Equation for Emotion?!

Something + Acceptance = Positive Emotion

Something + Non Acceptance = Negative Emotion

So, the Real cause of our Positive or Negative Emotion is….

….NOT ‘Something’ or ‘Someone’ …!

But, our Perspective … our Perception …. our Attitude….

….our  ‘Acceptance’ or ‘Non acceptance’ (of ‘Something’ or ‘Someone’),

that makes the Difference!

It is not the World and People out there,

but our Response & Reactions to the situations & people,

that determines the State of Mind and Mood we slip into…!

Next time when you feel disturbed,

analysis the situation with the above equation in mind,

and be assured that you will be back to Normal,

if you can just replace ‘Resistance’ with ‘Acceptance!

What is in it for me?

Rose Bud

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was inquiring of the older preacher.

The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the ‘Will of God’ for his life and for his ministry. Because of his high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to TRY to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact…It wasn’t long before he realized how it was impossible to do so.

Noticing the younger preacher’s inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem…

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of GOD’s design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of GOD’s design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I’ll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my heavenly Father knows.
I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
