Fear and courage are brothers” – proverb

Fear seems inherent quality that we all experience, irrespective of gender, age, color, nationality or religion. Somehow or the other, it gets passed on from generation to generation. We may experience fear due to our own past experiences. Same event would create different experience in different individuals depending on relevance. But fear is experienced by all, except infants.

Question is why is fear so deep rooted in our daily existence?

When you do not wish to lose something that you have or do not wish to have something you dislike, fear creeps in. The possibility that one may experience that which is not present – lose or gain but unwanted in both cases.

When someone exhibits courage, has he crossed the hurdle of fear?

No he hasn’t necessarily. But he has decided that there is something more important. In other words, when there is too much at stake, one has no choice but step forward, let it be threatening or frightening.

I wish to connect this understanding with my thought:

The present pattern of society creates only clones. These clones can not see beyond what they are taught to see. Generations after generations are repeating the same pattern of life. They may have obtained some variation, for better or worst. Whole life is at stake, struggling and living from pay cheque to pay cheque. Relations are affected due to work stresses. One can compare this with paddling the cycle. One need to keep paddling, come what may, otherwise it will fall. For those who earn little and live pay check to pay check, it would fall sooner. For those who have gained some speed, it will take longer. Stop peddling (working at job), but both will fall, irrespective of the conditions.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear” – Ambrose Redmoon

When someone decides to put the fear behind and take a step forward, he has made a decision. Something is more important in his life then pain of fear. Is there a guarantee for success? Huh? Who said that? But when tolerance levels have breached, change is inevitable & must happen. If one is resolute and stays on course, come what may, success is bound to kiss his feet. Many people will express that how futile is the exercise you have undertaken. Many will show examples of many having failed at the same feat. They will drain your level of mental commitment for change. Beware, these are dream stealer. Mediocre mindset people are not happy to see you making the effort, just in case you were successful.

If the compelling reason is strong enough, nothing can stop you. Keeping association with likeminded people is very helpful. In their presence your depleted energy levels will soar again. You are ready to take your challenge head on, once again.

“Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.” – Bethany Hamilton
